Manchester Association of Police Supervisors Endorses Dian McCarthy and Leonard Bell for New Hampshire State Senate

MANCHESTER, N.H. — The Manchester Association of Police Supervisors (MAPS) today announced its endorsement of Dian McCarthy and Leonard Bell for New Hampshire State Senate, citing their commitment to supporting police officers, strengthening public safety, and addressing the challenges facing Manchester’s residents and neighborhoods.
Both candidates have taken the time to listen directly to Manchester’s police officers and supervisors about the realities of policing and the issues affecting the community. Through those conversations, McCarthy and Bell have demonstrated an understanding of the need for practical solutions and a willingness to work with law enforcement to advance them.
“Our members want leaders who listen, understand what our officers are facing, and follow through,” said MAPS President Rob Megowen. “Dian McCarthy and Leonard Bell have taken the time to hear from us about the challenges in our neighborhoods and the support our officers need. We are confident they will bring those concerns to Concord and work to help
Manchester recruit new officers, retain the experienced officers we have, and keep our community safe.”
MAPS identified continued efforts to repair the retirement system for Group II members as a key priority. Fair and competitive retirement benefits are essential to recruiting qualified applicants, retaining experienced officers, and strengthening police staffing over the long term. Both candidates support continued work to address these concerns.
The association also cited McCarthy’s and Bell’s support for improvements to the criminal justice system and common-sense efforts to address homelessness and the persistent quality-of-life issues affecting Manchester. MAPS believes progress requires legislators who understand how these challenges affect residents, businesses, and the officers responding to them each day.
“Supporting our officers and supporting our community go hand in hand,” Megowen said. “We need partners at the State House who will help us build and maintain strong police ranks while working toward practical, lasting solutions for Manchester. We believe Dian and Leonard will be those partners.”
The Manchester Association of Police Supervisors represents Manchester police supervisors and advocates for its members and the resources they need to serve the community effectively.
